Clariant at a glance Clariant is a leading global specialty chemicals company with almost 30,000 employees and annual sales of about CHF10 billion. Our young company has grown out of the Sandoz Chemicals division, which was floated on the stock market as a spin-off in the summer of 1995, and the Hoechst specialty chemicals businesses, integrated in the summer of 1997. Through the acquisition of the British fine chemicals producer BTP in early 2000 Clariant became a leading manufacturer of intermediates and active ingredients for the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industry. Clariant operates worldwide with more than 100 Group companies in five continents. It is domiciled and headquartered in Muttenz near Basel/Switzerland.
Synergies for customers The products and services of the five divisions are based on specialty chemicals which play a decisive role in the clients’ manufacturing processes, and upgrade their end-products. Clariant’s work is sucessful due to the expertise of its staff members. Employees recognize the challenges their customers face, tailor the products to their exact specifications, and collaborate with them to come up with convincing solutions. The customer- and market-orientation, coupled with 135 years of experience in chemistry, makes the company alert to any new challenges that have to be met: Clariant - Exactly your chemistry.
Division Pigments & Additives, a key partner for the Nylon-6 industry Clariant - Additives offers a broad and attractive range of products that improve overall properties and quality of Nylon-6 fibers as well as injected parts. Apart from Waxes, Flame Retardants, Antistatic Agents, UV absorbers and Light Stabilizers we also have primary antioxidants like Hostanox ®* O 3 and Hostanox®* O 310 XP and secondary antioxidants like Sandostab®* P-EPQ®* which considerably improve color stability of Nylon-6.
More recently, Clariant Plastics - Additives came up with a unique multi-functional organic additive, commercialized under the trade name: Nylostab® S-EED ® which was originally designed as a nylon ‘Dyeability Enhancer’. In the course of industrial testing, Nylostab S-EED which "mimics" the nylon structure, achieved very interesting properties for Nylon-6: - Improvement of processability - Improvement of Nylon-6 surface quality - Reduction of filaments breakage - Improvement of long term properties of Nylon-6 (especially light stability)
With this positive feedback from nylon market our interest and activities in the Nylon-6 field are obviously significantly increasing.
